PLUMTREE – A young, self-motivated musician, Elfas Ncube aka Ice Eazy from ZBS is set to host a unique music festival which is aimed at promoting upcoming musicians from the border town whose music is little known.
The 17-year old whizkid is a lower sixth student at Plumtree High School doing STEM subjects which the government is ardently encouraging students to purse.
“l have realised that most artists here (Plumtree) are not known as they just record their music and sit on it,” Ncube told Getjenge Community Radio in an interview this week. “I was thus motivated to step up and address this gap by launching a music gala which will bring local upcoming artistes under one roof to strengthen collaboration and to put their work in the public arena.”
Ncube said although the gala targets primarily artistes from Plumtree (including Bulilima and Mangwe), he has also invited artistes from elsewhere around the country to facilitate sharing of experiences and best practices in the music sector.
The festival will be held at Dummz Palace on September 2, 2016 from 3pm till late. Tickets, which are sold for $2 each, can be ordered by sending a WhatsApp message to +263 778 965 847 or Ice Eazy and 9ice Hip Hop Facebook pages. The event, according to the enterprising musician, will be held annually. – Article compiled by Abigirl Khupe and edited by Divine Dube
